What has been entrusted to you?

There is a great deal of suffering in our world. We can feel overwhelmed by the need and by how little we can do. None of us can respond to everything. But each of us has the talents and resources to make a difference for someone. When we respond to that particular need that has been laid on our heart, we bring light and transformation to our world.

We encourage you this month to reflect on that which you most deeply care about. What need in our world most directly calls for your attention? Is it hungry children? Women’s needs? Migrants? Unsheltered families? People in prison? Concern for our planet? Long term development issues? Justice issues? All these and more cry out for our attention. But what has been given to you?

We so often talk about scarcity, but there really is more than enough to ensure the dignity and thriving of every person in our world and of the planet itself. Scarcity is created when people, larger systems, and countries hoard resources.

We are sure that your email and your mailbox are filled with requests for donations. The need truly is great. We hope you will step back and reflect on what societal or planetary need rests most truly in your heart. Then give generously and with joy. If we all do this, lives will be transformed, including our own.

Of course, Restoring Connections needs financial support. We operate on a shoestring. We trust that if we are fulfilling our mission, there are people who care about this work and  funding that is needed will arrive.

Most important for all of us is the soul work of listening for where our gifts are needed and responding in faithfulness to our calling. You are a blessing to our world and called to make a difference for someone!
